Hot Bods

So, I went and saw Twilight yesterday. It was amazing! SQUEE EDWARD CULLEN!!!

*ahem*

Now that my fangirl moment has past, let's move on. I saw this commercial thing during the previews.

Now, it seems to me as if this commercial is using men's bodies to sell products, instead of a woman's body.

Or, is it using a bit of reverse psychology? Use this cologne (I think that's what Bods is anyway), and girls with think that you look like these totally ripped men?

What do you all think?

I saw this the other day in the movie theather too..! I used to see them on t.v. years ago and then stopped seeing them until the other day in the theater. The commercial is obviously using the "sex sells" way of advertising which doesn't make it any different than the women's purfume ads I see in every magazine. These ads showing beautiful women, usually half dressed, around a good looking guy convey two differant messages with one ad. Message one-ladies, buy this for yourself and score a hunk like the one in the ad and message two-men, maybe if you buy this for your girlfriend, she will become flawless like the woman in the ad. Same basic messages and trying to be sent out with the Bod commercials- men, get this for yourself and score a good looking girl like the one walking by in the commercial or ladies, get this for your boyfriend and he will become ultra ripped and athletic. I will say though, that the Bod commercials don't put a male gaze twist on things like alot of other ads or commercials do. The whole commercial is from the woman's view.

I don’t really see a problem in this commercial. It looks like almost every other commercial I have seen. It depicts really good-looking people selling objects. The public just likes to buy things from beautiful people.

Yeah I saw the movie too and I saw that commerical as well.

After my gag reflex stopped working (haha), I was thinking about it as well. It's interesting to see an objectification of a males body instead of a women's all the time. Worth noting is that still the women in the commercial are sexual in nature. But as AwkwardMorning said "It looks like almost every other commercial I have seen. why do you have to have a half naked man to see bady wash. really. I mean nice body and everything but that is not the only way you can sell body wash. having commecial ads like this make the viewers feel inferior and look like they show look the same way.
